Mariel joined the ANCHOR team in late 2018 as Outreach Coordinator for the study. She has worked in HIV for 15 years, with experience at the community, national and international levels. In Europe and the US, she worked in harm reduction-based HIV prevention programs that included drug consumption rooms and syringe exchange. More recently, she has focused on HIV treatment advocacy with state and federal policy makers and research program leadership to advance the clinical development of new therapeutic strategies for HIV and related co-morbidities.
In addition, she has authored/co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed and community media publications. And in terms of education, Mariel earned her BA at Cornell University and MPH at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
