Gary Bucher, MD, FAAFP

Gary Bucher, MD, FAAFP is the Medical Director and founder of Anal Dysplasia Clinic MidWest, a medical practice dedicated to the anal health of men and women with HPV-related anal disease.

Dr. Bucher graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in 1989. Dr. Bucher is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and holds fellowship degrees from the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Nutrition. He has taken an interest in the HIV/AIDS field since the early days of the epidemic, where he published and presented papers nationally and internationally.

Recently, the rates of anal cancer have been increasing in HIV-positive men and women, HIV-negative MSM, transplant patients, and women with a history of cervical, vulvar or vaginal high-grade dysplasia and cancer. Dr. Bucher treats patients with high-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia (HSIL), abnormal anal pap smears, anal condyloma and persistent anal symptoms. He has completed specialized training in office-based evaluation and treatment of anal HSIL with High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA). Dr. Bucher has received Certificates of Proficiency in HRA and the Treatment of HSIL. Dr. Bucher is the only certified provider in the Midwest to provide HRA services for the AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG) and AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC) clinical trials.
