Alex Garbera has been involved with ANCHOR’s subject area for over 30 years, having launched one of the first anal PAP social awareness campaigns in 1989, when it was still very controversial. He is one of the original members of the Connecticut ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program), joining in 1987. He has participated in both regional and statewide HIV consortia and planning councils, and in 2004 started the first Connecticut social marketing campaign for long-term survivors of HIV. His undergraduate work focused on behavioral research and scientific ethics. He currently serves as the co-chair for the New Haven mayor’s Task Force on AIDS.
